Team Marquez irks 'JuanMa' by questioning his chin

Juan Manuel Lopez has awesome power. The little guy has a near 89.6 percent knockout rate, but that doesn't scare Rafael Marquez, who is a pretty big power puncher himself. Marquez and his promoter Gary Shaw are also confident that they have the better chin. They're drawing confidence from watching JuanMa hit the deck in his last fight against Bernabe Concepcion. Lopez recovered from his reckless first round moment, but it's the one question hanging over his head entering Saturday's showdown in Las Vegas.

Marquez (39-5, 35 KOs) and Shaw are predicting a stoppage inside of six rounds.

"... Lopez has never fought anyone with the skill and the determination of a Rafael Marquez," Shaw told FightHubtv.com. "He gets wild when he throws. If he throws wide, Rafael will be right in there with him."

JuanMa's promoter Bob Arum blew off the bold prediction from Team Marquez.

"Talk is easy. Maybe that's their dream to finish it in six rounds," said Arum.

Lopez wasn't so gracious.

"I read that the team of Rafael Marquez said I have no chin. But the one that’s undefeated is me and I know he lost a few fights by knockout. On Saturday, you will see who can take a punch and who can’t," said Lopez.

Lopez also said he's got another fighter on his radar.

"Gary Shaw said 'If I’m so good why don’t I fight (Yuriorkis) Gamboa?' I said, 'I’m so good I'm going to beat Marquez on Saturday and Gamboa next June,'" Lopez said.

Against the 35-year-old Marquez, Lopez (29-0, 26 KOs) will have to be a more disciplined fighter. The Mexican legend can take a beating and is still on top of his game. He dominated Israel Vazquez in his last win. The featherweight division needs a star but Marquez isn't going to just hand over the reins to the Puerto Rican.
