We're all set for an exciting day of CFL conference final action. First off, it's the Montreal Alouettes hosting the Toronto Argonauts at 1 p.m. Eastern. We'll see if Anthony Calvillo and the Montreal offence can put up points against Toronto's terrific defence. Part of that may come down to if they're able to run the ball with Avon Cobourne. On offence, Cory Boyd should be able to put up yardage on the ground against the Alouettes, but the question is if Cleo Lemon will be able to give them anything through the air. Special teams may also factor into the outcome; the Argonauts feature the league's best returner in Chad Owens, while the Alouettes will rely on Tim Maypray after unexpectedly cutting Larry Taylor this week. Montreal should get a strong punting performance from Damon Duval, but their kicking game is more questionable, while Toronto's Noel Prefontaine is solid in both areas. The 56,000-plus screaming fans at Montreal's Olympic Stadium (pictured above) may have a role in the outcome as well. We'll find out soon if they'll be partying in Montreal tonight or if they'll be heading home full of disappointment.
Out west, the Calgary Stampeders will be hosting the Saskatchewan Roughriders in frigid conditions (4:30 p.m. Eastern). That might favour Calgary's powerful rushing attack, which boasts the league's best tailback tandem in Joffrey Reynolds and Jon Cornish. Middle linebacker Barrin Simpson returns to the Saskatchewan lineup this week, so we'll see if he's able to help them stop the run. Both Henry Burris and Darian Durant are capable of putting up an aerial show as well, and there should be plenty of receiving talent on display. Saskatchewan has the likes of Andy Fantuz, Weston Dressler, Chris Getzlaf and Jason Clermont, while the Stampeders counter with Nik Lewis, Ken-Yon Rambo and Romby Bryant. Both teams have some defensive and special teams issues, so this one may turn into a shootout. We'll see how much of a role the conditions and the fans play here as well. Join us below the jump for a live blog of both games!
