Sir Alex deems Allardyce sacking stupidest decision he's ever heard

Big Sam Allardyce got an unwanted holiday surprise on Monday when Blackburn's new owners sacked him as part of their "wider plans and ambitions for the club" (wider than Big Sam?!). Allardyce was totally blind-sided by the move and so was his good buddy, Alex Ferguson.

Said Fergie (via the AFP):

"He phoned me at 3.10pm (1510GMT) today (Monday) saying 'can I have a cup of tea tonight?' because he was coming to the game," Ferguson told Sky Sports after United went two points clear at the top of the table following a 1-0 win over Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday.

"Then he phones me at half past four and says 'I've been sacked'.

"I've never heard of such a stupid decision in all my life, it's absolutely ridiculous," the 68-year-old Scot added. "I don't know what they're doing up there, but deary me.

"It confounds common sense to be honest with you. Absolutely ridiculous.

"I wouldn't like to follow him!"

But did you still give the man a cup of tea?!

Anyway, there you have it. Sir Alex Ferguson will not be leaving his post at Manchester United to replace Sam Allardyce at 13th-place Blackburn. The Indian poultry group that owns the Rovers is reportedly interested in Maradona, however. Which would be awesome.
