Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne was released from Carolinas Medical Center Hospital Sunday after being admitted because of a bug bite on his elbow after returning to Charlotte after Saturday night's Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway.
"Trevor has been treated and released from the hospital and is fine to continue with his daily activities - including driving a race car," Roush Fenway president Steve Newmark said in a release. "Doctors are still waiting for the test results to determine for sure what caused the reaction, but Trevor has been treated, is at home and he is doing fine."
Bayne tweeted about entering the hospital early Sunday morning after suffering the bite before the Texas race weekend. Bayne was treated for the bite on Friday at the infield medical center and was admitted into the emergency room at Carolinas Medical Center shortly after the Roush plane touched down in Charlotte after the race.
Bayne's 17th place finish at Texas was his highest finish since winning at Daytona.
