Tradition describes it as gold. Billy Beane chooses to call it "canary yellow." Whatever the case, I think we can all agree that the new home alternates of the Oakland Athletics — sported above by Jerry Blevins and Chris Carter — are a lot better than the black tops they replace.
Given that the A's wore the old '80s throwbacks as recently as one game last year, it would have been cool to see them go the whole banana and bring back the solid gold pullovers. I don't think any team has ever pulled off that style of piping down the chest.
Still, it's cool that the A's are staging a nice nod to their past as they get ready for what people are calling an optimistic future. They'll definitely look good on the Coliseum field.
