Ashley Force Hood to miss NHRA season because of pregnancy

The NHRA will be without one of it's most popular drivers in 2011, and it's for a very good reason.

Ashley Force Hood, the daughter of 15-time Funny Car Champion John Force is expecting her first child in August and will step out of the cockpit of her funny car for the entire season.

Replacing Force Hood, 28, will be Mike Neff, who is no stranger to John Force Racing. Neff was co-crew chief for John Force's car in 2010 after a downsizing from four cars to three at JFR left him without a car for 2010. John Force and Robert Hight will continue to drive the other two cars for JFR.

Neff will serve as a driver-tuner, meaning that he'll work on the car that he's driving. John Force, the defending Funny Car champion, will have the crew from Force Hood's team in 2010. Hight, the 2009 Funny Car Champion, has also been elevated to team president.
