No JGR No. 20 in Saturday’s Nationwide race

Is it a sign that the racing economy isn't as healthy as we thought?

NASCAR Scene's Bob Pockrass reported Wednesday on Twitter that Joe Gibbs Racing isn't taking it's No. 20 car, a staple of the Nationwide Series, to Saturday night's Nationwide race in Chicago due to lack of sponsorship.

The No. 20 car leads the Nationwide owner's points standings by 15 over the No. 18 car, which has been primarily driven by Kyle Busch. The No. 20 has been driven primarily by Joey Logano and by Denny Hamlin and Drew Herring as well and hasn't finished lower than 13th this season.

Since the car is skipping this weekend, it also means that it won't be locked into the field the rest of the year. While the car is very unlikely to ever not make the race on speed throughout the rest of the year, if a spin or crash happens in qualifying, the 20 may not make the race like what happened at Darlington in 2008.
