Ronaldo promises he won’t go to Man City, doesn’t care for money

We highlighted the start of rumors that Manchester City would make a move for Cristiano Ronaldo last month and accurately predicted that it would become the running story that it has. But Ronaldo has taken to the radio to stamp out journalists' desires to write about this all summer and any thoughts that he only cares about money.

From Soccernet:

"I'm not going to City," Ronaldo told the Cadena COPE radio station. "I give you my word I'm not going. Money is not the most important thing.

"If it was for money I could have double what I have. If it was for money I would leave.

"The most important thing is the behaviour of the people and they treat me tremendously here and I am very happy in Madrid.

"[Today] I would sign for 10 years. For Madrid, until the end of my career."

It's significant that Ronaldo says he could end his career with Real after reportedly hinting that he could return to Man United one day just a few months ago. Note how he said "today," though. Because tomorrow can always bring a change of heart. From the AP:

"Could I think differently tomorrow? Yes. No one knows the future of a player."

The 26-year old forward even left open the possibility of joining Madrid's rival Barcelona.

He said "play for Barca? Never is a strong word."

So with the Ronaldo to Man City rumors now dead, let the Ronaldo to Barca rumors begin!
