After helping Udinese reach the Champions League, Alexis Sanchez has become one of the top targets of the transfer window with a big price tag and even bigger expectations attached to him. Inevitably, this means that he has been compared to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo about eight bazillion times. Alexis would like to point out, however, that he is not a clone of either of them and that he is a completely different human with his own name and everything.
From Football Italia:
"I'd like to just be remembered as myself without any comparisons," Sanchez told Calcio 2000 magazine.
"I'm still some way off from achieving what Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have done," he continued.
"I am just Sanchez. I'm only at the start and I must continue on this path. It takes more than two or three goals to become a great player."
"NO!" the whole world shouts back. "You will be the next Messi/Ronaldo or you will be declared a total failure! You have been branded and now you must bear the unjust burden of that mark forever! FOREVER! Mwuahahahahaha!" And somewhere, one of the many players labeled "The Next Zidane" weeps.
