Big news out of Daytona, but not as big as it could be. The stars of the new Transformers flick, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," will serve as grand marshals for the Daytona 500 on Sunday. Josh Duhamel, Rosie Huntington-Whitely and director Michael Bay will give the "Gentlemen, start your engines" command. Nice, but we were hoping for some giant robots.
Oh, wait, it looks like the Transformer/NASCAR hybrids shown above actually will lead the field through the pace laps, which is fairly cool. But still, unless one of those things transforms into a giant robot and starts smashing cars, I'll be sorely disappointed. (On the other hand, if the Transformer-cars do the nose-to-tail thing and then transform, well ... the parents in the audience would have a lot of explaining to do.)
Anyway, we're fast going off the rails here, much like the movie likely will. Fair warning, though, you're going to get plenty of Transformer goodness in the days ahead.
