Nearly 100,000 Serbians greeted Novak Djokovic as he returned to Belgrade one day after he defeated Rafael Nadal to win Wimbledon.
The new world No. 1 took an open bus tour from the airport to outside the nation's parliament building, where fans had gathered at a celebration in his honor.
"You made this day the best day of my life," he told the crowd.

Serbia's president and prime minister both sent congratulatory telegrams to Djokovic after the match and officials from the Serbian Orthodox Church released a public statement lauding the tennis player's achievements.
Djokovic celebrated into the night with his countrymen, singing songs on stage with popular bands and finishing the night performing a traditional folk dance with his family.
