Lopez angered by Gimelstob?s ?metrosexual? comments

Feliciano Lopez, the Spanish tennis player who beat Andy Roddick in Friday's third round of Wimbledon, has been nicknamed "Deliciano" by the mother of a rival player. The name stems from Lopez's heartthrob good looks and his belief that any opportunity to go shirtless is a good one.

Given the attention paid to his chiseled physique and manly appearance, you'd think Lopez would be used to people talking about such aspects of his being. A recent dust-up with American television analyst Justin Gimelstob suggests otherwise.

During Lopez's upset win over Roddick, Gimelstob discussed the Spaniard's reputation:

"I think Feliciano is a great player, but he certainly loves to look in the mirror. And it's okay to do it, he's a very attractive man. People always talk about women, but he is tall, handsome, with a good body. Very metrosexual, yes. But not only him, his style of tennis is also attractive."

The quote may have veered toward the creepy but there's nothing too inflammatory in there. Lopez is handsome? Check. Good body? Check! Metrosexual? I'd call it European, but yes.

Deliciano did not agree. He Tweeted later after hearing the comments:

Yes, Feliciano, whatever could have given Gimelstob the idea that you are an attractive, metrosexual man who likes to look in the mirror? What indeed?

That tight V-neck black T-shirt, bolero sweater and plaid scarf jauntily tied around the neck just screams of someone who throws himself together right before going out. I'm sure the buttons on the shirt just happen to be unfastened at the exact moment of pectoral revelation. He probably was able to figure out the perfect ratio of unbuttoned-to-buttoned while keepingone eye in the mirror and watching himself gavotte.

Watch a Lopez match and tell me you're not thinking about how much the guy spends per month on hair product or whether that stubble is perpetually on his face. Not that there's anything wrong with that. If I had Lopez's body, I'd go shirtless to church. Embrace it though, Feliciano. And if you're going to get angry at anything, get angry at Andy Murray's mom. "Deliciano?"
