Gazzetta pulls prank on Milan fans, makes pre-match warmups fun

Before Milan's 1-1 draw against Bari on Saturday, fans at the San Siro were presented with a bizarre scene that probably challenged the sanity of many in attendance. Instead of doing the traditional, boring warmups of stretching and jogging, the two teams played frisbee, slow-danced with the ref, pretended to swim in the grass, and generally acted like loons on recess. Many, coincidentally, with newspapers in their hands.

Whether the fans believed these were the actual players prancing around the pitch probably depended on how gullible and how good their seats were, but the amateur video of it all quickly reached a half million views in the last few days. To clear up any confusion, though, the marketing firm that helped Italian paper La Gazzetta dello Sport pull off the promotional performance posted a video featuring a closer look that proves the performers were all lookalikes.

And so must continue to wait for the day when the real Rino Gattuso slow dances with a ref or Zlatan Ibrahimovic tosses a frisbee to an opponent. It can't be much longer now.
